Sleepless in Seattle

September 6, 2011

Well, we are back from the city that gave us Starbucks, and we certainly enjoyed ourselves! I must say, the people in Seattle are very kind and friendly, it really made the trip. We picked the best weekend to go, the weather was gorgeous and there was a lot going on in the city. I can’t wait to go back again!

I will let my photos speak for themselves, here is a glance at our fabulous long weekend…….

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend wherever they were. It looks like September is going to be just as nice, so hopefully I can continue to wear dresses and shorts and other cute warm weather outfits 🙂

All aboard!

August 31, 2011

As summer winds down, I am heading out on my last summer trip. The boy and I are taking a quick little trip to Seattle. We thought it would be fun to take the train, and I’m so excited because I’ve never traveled on a real train! As I run around like a busy little bee trying to pack and prep, these are the images that are running through my mind…

I hope we get a cozy little compartment like this for our morning train ride

never travel without a good scarf!

Don’t forget a good book or magazine to occupy those long hours…….

…..and a cute boy to cuddle up with

Seattle here we come!!

Over the weekend

August 1, 2011

Just a brief post to get back into the swing of blogging again. I have had a very busy summer so far, volunteering at a summer camp, training for a new job, and going on adventures wherever I can. I recently bought a new camera, and I can’t wait to experiment with it and hopefully update this blog more!

Here are a few pictures of my weekend. I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely summer weather, as I sure am!

Wearing a Delux fedora, H&M tank and necklace

Wearing H&M shirt and necklace, Talula hoodie

Summer seems to have only just arrived, so I hope to capture all the summer outfits I have been dieing to wear and will post them here soon. See you soon!

Over the weekend

February 1, 2011

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

It’s been rainy and foggy out, so I  stayed inside the first part of my weekend and relaxed. I went to visit a good friend up in Squamish so I decided to bake her some belated birthday cupcakes:

They are really cute, yet simple to make. All you do is make chocolate cupcakes:

add some icing:

and the mini eggs on top to make your little bird’s nest’s

Once we got to Squamish, it turned out to be a lovely day. We continued on our mini road trip up to Whistler and Pemberton for a nice scenic drive and lunch. It was gorgeous up there! Blue sky and bright sun, with snow covered trees and mountain peaks.

I really love it up there. So nice and cozy, tucked in between mountains and lakes. I would have loved to stop and take pictures outside but it was freezing and really windy. Next time maybe, because I’m going back there for sure!

So how was your weekend?I hope to get out and enjoy the sunshine this week, even if it means scraping my car windows in the morning!

Fashion U recap, part 2

January 11, 2011

Ok I’m getting back at the recap’s of my New york trip!!

Teen Vogue’s Fashion U had so many amazing “classes” to choose from this year, but I was really happy with the ones I picked! I was lucky enough to attend the editor’s panel, the world of fashion blogger’s, the Intern Queen and a D.I.Y.  session with Erica Domesek.

In the Editors Panel, the Teen Vogue editing team was there including Amy Astley and Eva Chen. They gave us great advice on how to succeed in the fashion industry.  It truly isn’t all about glamor and parties, and like Amy said “fashion is a real industry”!!. It was also good to hear what they look for when hiring interns, which motivates me to be as well rounded as I can to hopefully stand out. I also love the amount of passion people have for their job when they are in the fashion industry. Eva put it best by saying that “you can make whatever you love into a career” , which is how I feel about visual merchandising.

The next “class” I attended was lead by some top fashion bloggers I was so lucky to be in the same room with! Jane and Judy Aldrige were there, along with Street Peeper and Hanneli.  They had some really great down to earth advice about blogging, which is why their  blogs are so amazing.

I loved their shoes, of course, so I tried to take some decent pictures of them.

The session was truly inspiring, as I am always trying to be a better blogger. And my favorite part was getting a chance to meet with Jane and Judy Aldrige

Now, this was only the morning. I didn’t want to take my lunch break that day! It was the best “school” I had ever been in. There is still more to come about this amazing experience in the fashion world, in another post.

Fashion U recap, part 1

November 3, 2010

This October I had the pleasure of attending Teen Vogue’s Fashion University weekend in NYC. It was an amazing weekend that was a really valeuble and fun experience.

Some of my favorite parts of the weekend included Vogue editor Anna Wintour’s key note speech

she had many slides to show us as she talked about her career, and interestingly enough this was her first cover for American Vogue

this is a picture of a photo shoot about Spider Man the musical!

this is a shot from the December Vogue where they modeled this shoot after a famous photo that has been a huge inspiration in the fashion world

finally at the end she took a few questions along with Amy Astley, editor of Teen Vogue. It was really great listening to Anna’s impressive career. My favorite quotes from her include “bring some intelligence to what you do”, “you can never understand the great public”, “Vogue her”(when talking about Blake Lively), and “you don’t start at the bottom, you start from the beginning” from Amy Astley.

After the speach I was heading down to go to my first “class” and who did I run into? Eva Chen, editor of the beauty section in Teen Vogue! I used to love reading her blog on and I now follow her on twitter. She is so cute and fun so it was a real pleasure to meet her. Plus her outfit was co cute!!

That was the first part of my weekend, more details are to come on the other amazing “classes” I attended.

So Cute

October 25, 2010

So today was my last full day in NYC. I fly home tomorrow in the evening, so today I took the subway to Soho. I fell in love with this area of New York and wish I had more time to explore there!!

I walked the streets all day looking in boutiques and found a few jem’s to bring home. Here is Soho from my point of view

Needless to say I had a fabulous day and would love to come back to Soho any time. Tomorrow, I explore the Met and say my goodbyes to New York!!

School is in session!

October 23, 2010

Fashion U that is!

Today was the first day of Teen Vogue’s Fashion U and it was such an amazing experience!! If you love fashion, you need to go to Fashion U some day. You can learn so much from people actually in the industry, and find out new jobs you didn’t know existed! (like being a props stylist, I think that’s something I could do!!). Plus you get to meet tons of other guys and girls just as passionate about fashion as you are.

I’m super tired from this exciting day, but I will leave you with one picture that made my day 🙂

In the Big City

October 22, 2010

Hello everyone! I am currently blogging from New York City i aanticipation of Teen Vogue’s Fashion U this weekend. I can’t wait to get the weekend started with the Juicy shopping event tonight 🙂

So far New York is very different from what I’m used to at home. the padestrians and drivers are both crazy here! It is also very chilly, so I’m glad I packed lots of gloves and scarves to keep me warm. I will try my best to post pictures because of all the outfits I planned and of any shopping I will do.

I have a list of places to shop and a hip guide book so I hope togeth they will make my new York experience amazing.

Until tonight, hello New York!!
